ONOV

Delete your account or your data

This page is for ONOV, the app published by ONOV LLC on the Apple App Store and Google Play. You can delete your whole ONOV account, or just remove specific things you have posted while keeping your account. You do not need a reason, and you do not need the app installed.

Which do you want?

Delete some of your data, without closing your account

You do not have to choose between keeping your account and removing something you no longer want on ONOV. Most of this you can do yourself in the app, immediately and without asking us:

For anything you cannot remove yourself, use the form below and tell us what you want removed in the free-text box, or email net-support@onov.com telling us what you want removed. Your account stays open and everything else is untouched.

Delete your whole account

There are two ways to do this. If you still have the app, the first is faster and takes effect immediately.

Option 1 — In the app

  1. Open ONOV and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings & Privacy.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm when prompted.

Option 2 — From this page

Use this if you no longer have the app, cannot sign in, or would rather not reinstall. Enter the email address on your ONOV account and we will send a confirmation link to that address. Your account will not be deleted until you click that link, which is how we make sure the request came from you.

If you signed up with Google, use the Google address you signed in with.

This does not affect your request. It only helps us improve.

Trouble with the form? Email net-support@onov.com from the address on your account with the subject “Account deletion request”. We will take it from there.

Before you go. If your problem is another user rather than ONOV itself, you may not need to delete anything. You can block them from their profile or from any of their posts, mute notifications about a specific person, or report a post that breaks our rules. All three are in the app and none of them requires you to lose your account.

What happens after an account deletion request

WhenWhat happens
Straight awayWe send a confirmation link to the email address you gave us. Nothing is deleted yet.
When you click the linkYour account is disabled. Your profile, posts, polls and events stop being visible to everyone else on ONOV immediately.
For the next 30 daysYou can change your mind. Sign in again during this window and your account is restored exactly as it was. After that, it cannot be recovered.
After the recovery windowYour account and the data listed below are permanently deleted from our live systems.
Within 90 daysRemaining copies are purged from our backups as those backups age out.

What happens after a partial deletion request

Anything you delete yourself in the app is removed straight away. If you ask us to delete specific data, we will confirm what we have removed within 30 days, and sooner where we can. Your account stays open throughout and nothing else is affected. Copies clear from our backups within 90 days, as described below.

What gets deleted when you close your account

  • Your account, email address and password
  • Your profile — name, gender, location, citizenship, profile picture and cover photo
  • All four category profiles: Political, Entertainment, Hobbies / Sports and Business, including party or club name, description, preference, business details, qualifications and skills
  • Your posts, polls and events, including the photos and videos attached to them
  • Poll responses you gave
  • Your connections, supporters, and the people you support
  • Your favourites, hidden posts and block list
  • Your notification settings and feed filters
  • Your push notification token, so we stop being able to reach your device

What does not get deleted

A few things survive, and it is fairer to tell you now than to surprise you later.

WhatWhy
Comments you left on other people's postsThese stay, but your name is removed and they show as coming from a deleted user. Removing them entirely would tear holes in conversations other people are still having.
Anything other people saved or copiedIf you posted publicly, other users may have screenshotted or shared your content. We can delete our copy. We cannot reach theirs.
Communities you createdThese remain available to their members rather than closing, so the members are not left stranded. We may transfer or close a community whose creator has left.
Support ticketsKept for 24 months from closure, in case a question or dispute comes back.
Moderation and safety recordsIf your account was reported or actioned, we keep a limited record for 24 months, or longer where an investigation is open.
A one-way identifierIf your account was terminated for breaking our rules, we keep a hashed value for 24 months so the same person cannot immediately sign up again. It cannot be turned back into your email address.
Records we must keep by lawOccasionally the law requires us to retain something for a set period. Where that applies, we keep only what is required and delete it when the period ends.

Questions

If you want to know exactly what we hold about you before deciding, or you want a copy of it, email net-support@onov.com and ask. You have that right and we will not make it difficult.

Deleting your account does not end the arbitration agreement in Section 19 of our Terms & Conditions. It continues to apply to disputes arising after you leave, unless you opted out within 30 days of first accepting those terms.

Deleting your account is free, and we will not treat you differently for asking. Full detail on what we collect and how long we keep it is in our Privacy Policy, particularly Sections 12, 13 and 14.
